The City Clerk's Office is under the general direction of the Mayor and of the City Council.  Linda Penland was appointed Chatsworth City Clerk in January 2022. Clerk Penland serves as the Executive Secretary of the Mayor and of the City Council.Clerk Penland is also the official records keeper of the City which includes preparation of the tax digest, issuing of licenses, accounts payable and accounts receivable. Clerk Penland also serves as the Clerk Treasurer of the City's funds.

The City Clerk's Office serves as the Tax Collector and the City Cashier for taxes, occupational and regulatory licenses, alcohol licenses and other miscellaneous accounts.

Within the City Clerk's Office is the payroll department for the city.The Payroll Department maintains all personnel records, generates payroll, facilitates enrollment in insurance and retirement programs for City employees.

Rhonda England was appointed Clerk of Court for the Municipal Court of Chatsworth in February 2023. Clerk England's duties include attending court, recording dispositions, and filing proper dockets.
